It's Friday night and the mood is right....

That’s right, yet another new Game 6 feature is making its debut today:

Every Friday, The Six is going to bring you a few reasons why you should be damn glad that it’s Friday. It could be a list of things to watch over the weekend; it could be a great new undiscovered bar that demands your attention; it could even be a weather report. But whatever it is, it’s sure to make you nod your head and say, Thank God it’s Friday.

Today – Friday, June 12th – we have a couple things to be thankful for.

1. The Taking of Pelham 123 opens today. Any Denzel Washington movie that comes out is cause for celebration. The guy doesn’t make bad movies, and this one looks to be a sure thing. Here’s hoping director Tony Scott can reclaim his Man on Fire magic and regardless, it’ll be good to see John Travolta back on the big screen after his son’s tragic death. Definitely check it out if you get a chance this weekend.

2. Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight at 8 on NBC. The Detroit Red Wings will try to defend their title against a hungry Pittsburgh Penguins team. If Game 6 was any indication, the action on the ice is sure to be quick and physical. The off-ice storylines are just as good, with Detroit’s Marian Hossa desperately in search of a Cup after leaving the Penguins last year because he “didn’t think they had what it takes to win.” Here’s betting those guys in the Penguins locker room want nothing more than to make him eat his words. But if that’s not enough for you, watch tonight because hockey Game 7’s are, unquestionably, the greatest Game 7’s in all of sport. The pace is unbelievably fast, every check is finished, and emotions are almost sure to boil over. Look for a lot of hard hits and some good old fashioned face washes, but watch Game 7 most of all for a display of the finest display of hockey the sport has to offer.

3. The Hangover‘s second weekend in a theater near you. I know I’ve said it before, but if you haven’t listened to me yet, listen to me this weekend and go see The Hangover. Seriously. There’s no reason not to. It’s that good. If you don’t go this weekend, you forfeit the right to ask people not spoil the movie by talking about it around you. Sorry, you’ve had 2 weekends to see it – come Monday, I’m quoting all the funny lines and openly discussing the ending.

So there you go – three great reasons to be happy we’ve arrived at the end of the week. I’m personally happy it’s Friday because I had a free day off today, but you know what? There are no off days in the life of a blogger, so check Game 6 throughout the day for more updates.

Enjoy the weekend, everybody. TGIF.
